Amanda Carrera Alvarez, MD

Dr. Amanda Carrera-Alvarez is double board-certified in Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. She received her medical degree from Universidad Central del Caribe in Puerto Rico, completed a 1-year Internship in Internal Medicine at the Ramon Ruiz Arnau University Hospital in PR, and went on to complete Residency in Psychiatry at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the Bronx. Dr. Carrera-Alvarez then completed a 1-year Fellowship in Consultation Liaison at St. Luke's and Roosevelt Medical Centers in New York City, further acquiring proficiency in caring for patients with complex medical and psychiatric comorbidities. After completing training, Dr. Carrera worked briefly as a Psychiatric Consultant for patients admitted to medical units and as an Electroconvulsive Therapy Psychiatrist to patients in the Inpatient Psychiatric Units, in Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn. During this time and through training, she worked part-time/moonlighted in the Margaret Cochran Corbin VA Campus located on NYC and eventually moved to work there permanently in the roles of Outpatient Psychiatrist, Consultant Psychiatrist to outpatient medical specialties, and ECT Psychiatrist. More recently she held the position of Acting Program Manager and Outpatient Psychiatrist to the VA Mayagüez Outpatient Clinic in Puerto Rico. Dr. Carrera-Alvarez focuses on medication management while also implementing elements of supportive, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioral therapy within each session to fully address individual needs. At times, Dr. Carrera-Alvarez may recommend a therapist for additional and/or more specialized therapy. Dr. Carrera-Alvarez is experienced in treating a wide range of psychiatric conditions including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, among others.

Dr. Anthony Finch is a graduate of the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center General Psychiatry residency and the Duke University Geriatric Psychiatry fellowship programs; he is board certified in Psychiatry by the ABPN. Dr. Finch was born and raised in New York and now lives in North Carolina. Dr. Finch specializes both in psychiatric medication management and various forms of psychotherapy. He believes that effective psychiatric treatment requires attention to multiple domains, including the establishment of a strong doctor/patient relationship, the development of a sound understanding of who the patient is as an individual, and a comprehensive assessment of spiritual and biological factors contributing to mental health. As such, Dr. Finch's practice includes both pharmacological and psychotherapeutic interventions that aim to treat the whole person on an individualized basis. He sees patients of all ages, specializing in older adults, and treats all psychiatric conditions. Dr. Finch received the 2023 Distinguished House Staff Award from the New York Weill Cornell Medical Center Alumni Council; this is awarded to one graduating house staff member from each department annually for excellence during training. He has conducted research on depression and PTSD, published a number of papers in peer-reviewed journals, presented posters at conferences, and written a chapter for a book on medical education. Shannon Curry, LMHC

Shannon Curry has been providing mental health therapy since 2016. She received her degrees from Plattsburgh State University. Shannon has worked in a variety of settings from mental health clinics, substance use and addictions clinics, along with providing treatment in correctional facilities. Shannon helped to establish a Medication Assisted Treatment Program for a New York State County Jail. She also has experience in treating people with issues with gambling. Shannon uses an eclectic approach in treatment to provide client-centered care. Steve Paschos, MD

Dr. Steve Paschos is a board-certified Psychiatrist at Talkiatry. He attended Loyola University Chicago on the Lake Shore campus, completing a bachelor's degree in science and a Degree in Classical Studies. He then attended Medical School at Rush Medical College in Chicago and completed a 5-year combined Internal Medicine & Psychiatry residency in 2011. Dr. Paschos subsequently completed a 1-year fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at Rush University Medical Center. He has spent the last 12 years fulfilling his passion for integrating Internal Medicine & Psychiatry, working with a diverse range of patients suffering from severe mental illnesses. ‍Dr. Paschos' years of experience have included working at Cook County Health Services � Cermak Health Services at Cook County Department of Corrections with an extremely diverse patient population with varying psychiatric illnesses. He has also worked as an inpatient psychiatric hospitalist and as the director of the Intensive Care Unit at Chicago Behavioral Hospital in Illinois. Dr. Paschos also acted as a medical director of an IOP and established an outpatient psychiatric practice in conjunction with the Intensive Outpatient Program. He has had the opportunity and privilege of treating individuals who suffer from various diagnoses, especially challenging patients who have suffered from integrated or Med-Psych concerns involving primary mood disorders, Bipolar Affective disorders, prior trauma, severe medical problems/diagnoses along with concurrent personality pathology. ‍Dr. Paschos utilizes supportive psychotherapy, brief cognitive behavioral therapy, and at times psychodynamic therapy to address his patients' current complaints and to identify the locus of their symptoms. He believes in utilizing an all-encompassed approach using mindfulness and various psychotherapies along with comprehensive medication management. Deborah Bearman, PMHNP

Deborah Bearman, PMHNP, is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who is dedicated to helping those struggling with mental health concerns to live a more fulfilling life. Deborah received her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialty in psychiatry from SUNY Upstate Medical University. Taylor Jarrett is a psychotherapist who holds a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
