Sonia YBalle, MD

Dr. Sonia Yballe is an experienced physician with double medical certification in the fields of Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Prior to joining Talkiatry, Dr. Yballe has treated patients in different clinical settings, treating patients ranging from 5 years to 65 years old. She was director of an inpatient Child and Adolescent program in the Chicago area for a number of years developing her own outpatient private practice.

She has also experienced working in a Federally Qualified Health Center, a community Mental Health Center reaching out to undeserved populations. Her passion is treating patients suffering from chronic Psychiatric conditions such as Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autistic System Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, among others. Her treatment modality includes a trauma focused interview, supportive therapy, cognitive behavior therapy and medication management.

Dr. Yballe received her MD degree from the Cebu Institute of Medicine in Cebu City, Philippines. After a rotating internship at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago she completed her General Psychiatry residency at the University of Minnesota. This was followed by a fellowship in the sub-specialty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Wilder Child Guidance clinic in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dr. Yballe was elected a life member of the American Psychiatric Association in January 2004 and elevated to a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in October 2019.
